“For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth” (Romans 9:28).
When Jesus gave His command to the disciples saying, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19), He also promised that He will send His power to enable the disciples to fulfill His great commission. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
Through the empowered disciples Jesus would continue the work He began on earth, and even “greater works” than those would be accomplished (John 14:12). That is, greater in quantity rather than quality. Christ’s activity had extended over a relatively small area of the world. After the ascension the gospel would spread to all parts of the world.
The end time message will be given to entire world: “Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people” (Revelation 14:6). Is this really possible? Jesus answers saying, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible” (Mark 10:27).
The Bible even predicted the method with which to spread the message to the entire world: “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase” (Daniel 12:4). This prophecy points to the great advances of science, technology and general knowledge in the last century and a half, advances that will make possible a widespread proclamation of the message of these prophecies.
The end time events will be rapid ones. God with His mighty hand will lead the work by the empowerment of His Spirit to evangelize the world, including remote parts in China and other places that appear to not have heard just yet.
In His service,
